AS A MEDIA COMPOSER

Dive into the enchanting world of personalised soundtracks just for you! Let the music of your dreams come to life, adding a magical touch to your every moment.

Hi! I’m a film composer at the beginning of my creative journey, passionate about telling stories through music. I love exploring how sound shapes emotion, atmosphere, and character, and I’m constantly learning and developing new ways to bring scenes to life with melody, harmony, and texture.

My background includes knowledge and training in world music, experimentation with different musical styles, study of the fundamentals of composition, and development of skills in digital audio workstations. I’m especially inspired by cinematic soundscapes, orchestral colours, and subtle musical details that help audiences connect more deeply with what they see on screen.

AS A PERFORMER

A Composer-performer, visual artist and radio presenter, DKing (also known as Gugak Sounds). In May 2018,  Dami was a Sound and Music New Voices composer in residence, through which she received support from ACE, PRSF, British Korean society and Talent Development partner. This support has enabled her to develop various live music performances and projects,

She has composed for string orchestra, mixed ‘world’ ensemble, solo, and traditional Korean instruments, and has most recently been working in media and film. She is also an abstract artist in her spare time, creating artworks, and more unusually, everyday objects such as shoes, taps and plates.

As a visual artist, she created her own art pieces, which in turn inspire her music writing. Through art, she has also developed a method to create her own unique graphic scores.

As a performer, her self-composed works included work for percussion, particularly the Korean hour-glass drum (Janggu) and the 12-string zither (Gayageum), which she studied for 15 years and is a graduate of the prestigious Seoul National University, majoring in the Composition of Korean Traditional Music.

Damilola's stage name was derived from her love for radio and the radio programme series ‘Gugak Sounds’, which she hosted, focusing on exploring and learning about the sounds of Korean Music.

As I grow as a composer, my goal is to collaborate with filmmakers, animators, and other storytellers—transforming ideas into musical moments that feel meaningful and memorable. I’m excited to keep learning, keep creating, and keep developing my voice in the world of film music.
